Partners in Philanthropy

We have long and fruitful associations with estate planners, financial planners and other financial advisors and their clients. It has been our privilege and a source of great satisfaction to help financial advisors help their clients make sound and financially sensible investments in their communities through prudent long-term charitable planning.   Choices To Match Your Clients' Charitable Interests
Establishing a fund at the Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut as part of an estate plan is a most effective way for your clients to give back to the community and to go on giving in perpetuity. New funds can take several different forms, such as donor-advised funds, charitable remainder trusts, scholarships, and so forth. For more information go to Kinds of Funds. See also a comparison of different types of charitable funding--private foundation versus donor-advised fund, etc.

Choices To Suit Your Clients' Financial Needs
As well as outright gifts of cash, securities and other kinds of assets, your clients can take advantage of various giving instruments to make a donation or to start a fund at the Foundation. Some of these fall under the heading of planned gifts. For more information go to Types of Gifts and Ways of Giving.

A Sense of Depth and Solidity: Financial Information
Your clients' funds will come under the stewardship of investment advisors and fund managers of deep experience and wide knowledge. For more information go to Community Foundation Investment Stewardship.

Understanding Gift Law
To provide your clients with the best possible advice on charitable giving, you will need to be current with the often-changing, and complicated, laws governing charitable gifts. We are pleased to provide you with some resources to help you keep up. These include a GiftLaw Calculator, which enables you to obtain tailored tax deduction calculations for as many as ten different gift options. For more information go to GiftLaw.

The Foundation and Estate Planning
We invite you to follow this link to a publication produced by the Foundation that explores the relationship between estate planning and charitable giving. Called The Gift Ongoing, this brochure describes how a fund can grow under the Foundation's care, and presents the stories of several donors who have established funds with us over the years. The brochure can be downloaded, or, if you would like printed copies for yourself or your clients, please call Guy Rovezzi, the Foundation's president, at (860)626-1245. To see the brochure go to Guide to Giving.
